Production Orders

Manage your entire manufacturing lifecycle in one place. The Production Order feature acts as the command center for your build process, giving you full visibility into raw material usage, production costs, and inventory movements—from the initial plan to the final product.

Creating a Production Order

Starting a new production run is designed to be fast and error-free. Instead of manually entering every single component, you can rely on your existing data to do the heavy lifting.

Key Fields & Setup

  1. Product Details: Select the Product you wish to manufacture. The system will automatically show you the Maximum Production Quantity (in green) based on your current raw material stock, so you never over-plan.
  2. Warehouses: Choose the Primary Warehouse where the production will take place.
  3. Scheduling: Set your Scheduled Start and End Dates to keep your production team aligned with delivery deadlines.

The “Load BOM” Automation

Stop wasting time adding raw materials one by one. We have streamlined the process with the Load BOM (Bill of Materials) feature.

  • How it works: Once you select a product and quantity, click the Load BOM button.
  • What it does: The system instantly fetches the pre-defined Bill of Materials for that item. It auto-populates the Raw Materials table, calculating the exact quantity needed for this specific order size.
  • Flexibility: Need to make a one-off change? You can still manually adjust the rows, add extra materials, or log Production Expenses and By Products in their respective tabs.

Understanding Statuses

Your production order goes through a specific lifecycle. Each status in the workflow triggers different behaviors in your inventory to ensure your stock levels are always accurate.

StatusWhat It MeansInventory Impact
PendingThe order is drafted but not yet confirmed.None. No inventory is touched.
ScheduledThe order is confirmed and slotted into the calendar.None. Planning phase only.
Work In ProgressProduction has officially started on the floor.Commits Raw Materials: The required materials are reserved (committed) so they cannot be used elsewhere.
Updates Incoming Stock: The final finished product is marked as “Incoming,” letting your sales team know stock is on the way.
On HoldProduction is temporarily paused. No Change. The inventory state remains exactly where it was before the pause.
CompletedThe production run is finished.Stock Movement: Raw materials are deducted from inventory. The finished product (and any By Products) are added to your available stock.
CancelledThe order was voided.Reversal: All commitments are released, and “Incoming” stock is removed. It’s as if the order never happened.

The Summary Section

Gain instant financial clarity on every batch you produce. Located at the bottom right of the order, the Summary Section updates in real-time as you add materials or expenses.

  • Raw Materials Cost: The total cost of all components consumed.
  • Production Expenses: Overhead costs (labor, electricity, etc.) allocated to this batch.
  • Total Cost of Production: The sum of materials and expenses.
  • Cost Per Unit: A critical metric that divides your total cost by the quantity produced, helping you ensure your pricing margins remain healthy.
