Menus (Navigation)
If your website is a building, the Menu is the signage. A clear, well-organized navigation bar is the difference between a customer finding exactly what they need and a customer leaving in frustration.
The Menu builder allows you to construct your site’s main navigation bar, combining product categories, custom pages, and direct links into a cohesive structure.
Building Your Menu
To configure your navigation, go to the Online Store > Menu section.
The interface is divided into two distinct areas: the Item Selector (left) and the Structure Canvas (right).
1. Select Your Items
The left sidebar contains everything you can link to. Expand a category to see the options:
- System Menu: Standard pages built into the system, such as Shop, Hot Deals, Blogs, and Contact Us.
- Pages: Select from the custom content pages you built in the “Pages” module (e.g., “Test Page”).
- Categories: Link directly to specific product collections (e.g., “Shirt,” “Raw Materials”).
- Custom Links: Need to link to an external site or a specific PDF? Enter the URL and Label manually. You can even toggle Open in new tab for external links.
2. Add to Menu
Once you have checked the boxes for the items you want, click the Add to Menu button. They will jump over to the Structure panel on the right.
3. Arrange & Structure
Now, organize the flow.
- Reorder: Click and drag items up or down to change their order from left to right on your website.
- Create Dropdowns (Nesting): Want “T-Shirts” to appear under “Men’s Wear”? Drag the “T-Shirts” item slightly to the right underneath the parent item. The system limits nesting to one level deep.
- Remove: Changed your mind? Click the red X next to any item to remove it from the menu.
4. Save
When you are happy with the layout, click the Update Menu button at the bottom right to push the changes live.
Sevenledger Tip: Keep your top-level menu simple. Experts recommend having no more than 7 items in your main navigation bar. If you have more categories, use the Nesting feature to tuck them neatly under broader headings.
